Calling all HBCU students and recent grads(‘18-’21): Here’s your chance to win up to $2,500 to launch your big idea! Black Girl Digital has teamed up with the WNET group and Chasing the Dream to bring you the HBCU Big Pitch competition. With only two days left to enter, we are encouraging all of you with a dream and a passion for entrepreneurship to enter this contest to get your business idea off the ground. Inspired by the PBS Documentary, Tulsa: The Fire and the Forgotten, we want to honor all that was lost and pay it forward with the HBCU Big Pitch. We recognize the rich history of Black Wall Street and the Black lives and businesses lost during the Tulsa Race Massacre. We want to make sure we are supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs and what better place to start than HBCUs?
How to enter: It is very easy to enter. Using your active college.edu email address, create a 60-second video of your business pitch and submit it to the Contest Hub at https://www.blackgirldigital.com/the-hbcu-big-pitch. We've extended the entry period to June 11, 2021 at 11:59pm EST.
Once you have submitted your pitch, share and promote it to your friends, family, classmates, and fellow HBCU Alum to vote for the best pitch. Be sure to use the hashtags #HBCUBigPitch and #TulsaMassacrePBS when promoting your pitch on social media.
You don’t have to have the perfect pitch or a completely flushed-out idea.

Pitch Day: Getting ready for pitch day, there's nothing to be nervous about. Each contestant will have five minutes to present their business idea in a little more detail to the panel of judges. The judges will then ask each contestant a couple of questions about their business idea. Once all the contestants present, the judges will deliberate and announce the winners. Our impressive panel of judges includes Angela Yee, co-host of The Breakfast Club, entrepreneur, and philanthropist; AJ Ross, CBS Sports reporter, and Howard University alum; and Latoya Shambo, CEO, and founder of Black Girl Digital. The event will be hosted by Rae Holliday, the award-winning media personality and content creator.
